If you are looking for a caring, welcoming congregation of Christian believers, you’ve come to the right place. Dixon Church of the Brethren has been serving the Dixon area since 1908. We are an exciting church made up of all ages. We are large enough to have a variety of opportunities for service and worship, and small enough that you won’t get lost in the crowd. After you have visited us on the web, come see us in person. We would love to have you worship with us and join us in following Jesus: Peacefully. Simply. Together.
Since its inception in 1708, the Church of the Brethren has been committed to peace. It works to live out the tradition as a historic peace church by seeking to become a living peace church, through the many issues of peace and justice. After World War I, the Church of the Brethren, along with the Quakers and Mennonites began to be known as the "Historic Peace Church." The Bible says "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you." Luke 6:27
A Peace Pole has been planted on the front lawn of our church. It is a six sided pole displaying the message and prayer "May Peace Prevail on Earth" on each of its six sides in many different languages. 180 countries from all over the world have dedicated these poles as monuments to peace. They serve as a constant reminder to pray for peace.
CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN MISSION AND MINISTRY BOARD
As we envision the next decade for the Mission and Ministry Board of the Church of the Brethren, we pray that...
Christ will be at the center of all we do. We will discern God's yearnings for our ministries by prayerfully gathering around the Word.
We will creatively imagine and live out God's vision for reconciliation and healing.
We will help the Brethren express faith through humble service, simple words, and courageous proclamation.
Will will grow into a community that more fully reflects all God's people.
We will embody Jesus' example of servant leadership.
Will will provide opportunities for Brethren to be involved in hands-on ministry so that God's transforming energy is released through committed service and support.
Our Brethren dedication to peace, simplicity, and community will undergird all aspects of our life and work.
May the Holy Spirit empower us as we respond to God's yearnings.
